1st Year Girls' Soccer defeat Gorey Educate Together

On March 3rd, our 1st Year Girls' team faced off against Gorey Educate Together. The match started very quickly with Gorey scoring a goal inside the first few minutes. It would have been easy for the Greystones outfit to be discouraged but they responded with an impressive attacking verve. St David’s quickly answered back with a goal, but it was unluckily called offside. However St David’s kept trying and eventually equalised after many chances with a goal from Bella Simpson to make it 1-1 at half time.

St David’s came in to the second half very strong having many chances but couldn’t quite convert their opportunities in the final third. However, they put on a good defensive display, as Gorey saw their clear-cut chances limited. In the last five minutes of the game St David’s were very close to scoring a winner but it came off the crossbar. Their persistence paid off, however, as just a minute later they finally managed to score with a goal from Saoirse Gallagher Brennan. The game ended 2-1, with David's running out deserved winners.
