1st Year Girls' Soccer vs GCC

On the 16th of October, Ms. Coleman's First Year girls football team played their first match of the season against our neighbours Greystones Community College in Greystones United.

Prior to kick off Ms. Coleman and our TY coaches, Sophia and Sarah, led the warm up, ensuring they team were fully prepared to do battle. Kick off was at 10.00, with Greystones Community College experiencing a purple patch early on by scoring within the first couple of minutes. However, St. David's fought hard to re-establish themselves in the match, stemming the initial first-half wave of attack. Pippa Creswell in particular displayed a calmness in defence and made some excellent clearance at the back. Additionally, Georgia O'Gorman worked hard in midfield, leading the counter-press with consistent pressure.

The second half started with a great run up the wing by Ciara Lehane. It set the tone for the next period of play which proved to be incredibly even as both sides enjoyed periods of dominance. St. David's counted themselves unlucky to be on the wrong end of some near misses while Ana Maria Ramirez McMahon and Casey Mullally worked together brilliantly to make some goal saving tackles in the back line. Unfortunately St David's left without the points, falling just short to a very strong Greystones Community College team. There was incredible team work on display from the girls and it was a very promising performance for their first match of the soccer season. In particular, there was excellent performances from Pippa Creswell, Georgia O'Gorman and Ava Doran however the player of the match was Ciara Lehane.
