On the 21st February, our Green Schools committee were given a talk on Coastal pollution and biodiversity before heading down to the seafront to do some good work cleaning the beach.
They learned a great deal about the different types of rubbish that can be found on the beach and how to identify where it came from using tidal currents patterns or the barcodes on items. They saw a variety of different shell types from the depths of the ocean. The group proceeded to head down the South Beach with some gear to pick up litter on the beach.
Overall it was a very informative and important source of information for the committee. We’re all blessed for living so close to the beach and the sea, we should make sure we take care of it!
