First Whole School Assembly of 2024-25!

Today students and staff gathered for our first whole school assembly of the year, marking the beginning of another exciting chapter in our school community. It was a wonderful opportunity for students and staff to come together and celebrate a positive start to the new academic year. Mr. Carey kicked off by warmly welcoming everyone back after the summer break. Full of enthusiasm for the year ahead, we were informed of an array of exciting upcoming events as well as being reminded of the importance of working together to make this school year a memorable and successful one.

Our wonderful Ethos Committee shared blessings and good wishes for the school year ahead before new head boy Colm O’Neill and head girl Aoife Ryan made their debut speeches. They spoke with enthusiasm and pride about their roles and the exciting initiatives they plan to lead this year, fostering school spirit, promoting inclusivity, and enhancing communication between students and staff. They also highlighted the incredible work done by the Student Council, emphasising its vital role in amplifying student voices and creating positive change. Their energy and optimism set a truly positive tone for the year ahead, inspiring all students to get involved and contribute to making our school an even better place.

Arts Director Emma Cronly took to the stage next, expressing her gratitude for the incredible enthusiasm shown by students signing up for various clubs and societies. She gave a special mention to all those who auditioned for the upcoming Transition Year musical and shared how much she is looking forward to a creative and inspiring year ahead.

Sports Director Conor Short rivalled her enthusiasm, reminding everyone of last year’s fantastic achievements, including the many teams who brought home silverware. He encouraged all students to give their best effort in sports this year, with hopes for similar successes this coming school year. Mr. Short also celebrated the remarkable accomplishments of the girls from 1st and 2nd year who played for Greystones United U14 soccer team and recently became SFAI National Cup winners, as well as the boys on the Éire Óg U13 Gaelic football team, who were recently crowned Wicklow A Championship winners. Both teams’ successes were a proud moment for the school community and served as an inspiration to all.

With the new school year now in full swing, there is much to look forward to. From academic achievements and a vast array of amazing extracurricular activities, to school events and new initiatives, the year ahead promises to be full of opportunities for learning and personal growth. Here’s to a successful, enjoyable, and enriching school year ahead!
