Our Junior Boys Gaelic team produced an amazing performance against Wexford’s Selskar College last Friday the 22nd of November 2024 despite the freezing cold weather. This match marked the start of the league so they were eager to win.
Selskar opened the game with a nice point but our lads immediately retaliated with a well worked score. David’s got a penalty in the early minutes of the first half but, unfortunately, Selskar’s goalkeeper just got a hand to it to put it wide. St David’s Eoghan Waters scored a lovely and precise goal. This was followed by well worked goals and points from Aidan Ferguson, Dan Farrell and Conor Lehane to give them a comfortable lead of 10 points going in after the first half. At half the score was 2-5 0-1 to St David’s.
The second half was brilliant to watch! Selskar came back and got a goal but it wasn't enough to get the momentum back for their team. If anything this just made our boys more determined to stay ahead. Cillian Brady, Jack Mitchell and Conor Church got a few more excellent scores to keep David's comfortably ahead. In the end St David's came away with a dominant first win in the league winning 8-12 to 1-1.
A big thanks to their incredible coach, Mr. Crowe.
