Junior Girls GAA Victory in Quarter Finals against Temple Carrig

On Monday the 7th of April, St David’s Junior Girls GAA team took on local rivals, Temple Carrig, in Éire Óg GAA club.  Competition was high as they were playing against a neighbouring school in Greystones. As well as that, if the girls lost this match they would be eliminated from their league competition.

With a delayed start time of 1:30, the girls took to the field and began to play with fierce determination. Temple Carrig got in with a point in the opening seconds of the match. This did not bother our girls, as they bounced back immediately scoring multiple goals. At one stage a boot split in half, and David’s were a player down, but with a bit of luck this led to an excellent goal being scored. Thanks to a bit of tape David’s could now further increase their lead with all players on the pitch.

Going into the second half, the girls had even more ambition to increase their already strong lead. This was done thanks to all the girls and their incredible teamwork but a special mention to Poppy Smith, Isobel Keating, Naoise Morris and Siún Ní Dhálaigh for their outstanding performance.

The girls had an incredible victory over Temple Carrig with a final score of 7-19 to 2-7. Well done to the girls and their coach Mr. Geoghegan on the well deserved win. Onto the semi-finals now!
