On Friday the 14th of March, our Junior Girls' GAA team faced Castlepollard Community College in the Leinster semi-final. The girls went into the match knowing both that a place in the final was on the line but that they were coming up against a formidable opposition that would test them to their limit.
Shortly after the whistle blew, Castlepollard scored the first few scores, asserting their attacking prowess but St David’s kept their heads high. It was a tough first half but the girls showed strong defensive resilience and continued to work hard throughout the game. The first half ended with Castlepollard in a winning position, leaving David's with an uphill battle to achieve scoreline parity.
As the second half kicked off, St David’s stepped up their game with two fantastic goals from Moya Marrinan and points from Matilda Gustafson and Hazel Prendergast. There were great performances all round from our girls but St David’s were unable to retake the lead in the game, unfortunately ending the game at a loss.
Well done to the girls for making it so far and thanks to Mr Geoghegan for coaching!
