The Junior Girls' soccer team kicked off against Loreto Bray on the 13th of December.
The two teams were very even in the first 10 minutes of the match with both teams fighting for every ball. David's conceded an unfortunate penalty halfway through the first half which the Loreto Bray striker scored. However the David's team refused to give up and kept defending Loreto's relentless attacks until the halftime whistle blew. Hazel Prendergast played incredibly in nets claiming many balls in her box.
After Mr. Geoghegan's encouraging halftime talk the girls went out determined to pull the game back. David's created 2 early chances before Áine Ryan scored from great pressure in their box. Not long after Laoise O'Gorman's scored an incredible goal from outside the box which flew in after an unfortunate fumble from the keeper. This brought the score to 2-1 which David's managed to hold until the final whistle thanks to some very determined defending and some amazing attacking play.
Everyone played amazingly however two standout players were Laoise O'Gorman and Mae Browner.
Well done everyone! And a massive thanks to Mr. Geoghegan for coaching the team.
