This week in St. David’s, we celebrated Maths Week with a series of exciting events to promote the love of all things numbers. Brilliant work has been completed by Ms Dempsey’s Transition Year maths class over the last couple of weeks to organise an escape room for our lovely First Years.
The first years were split up into small teams and were invited down group by group over the course of Tuesday and Wednesday to take part in the escape room. The room, which was treasure hunt themed, gave students only 20 minutes to work in their teams to complete a series of numeracy-based puzzles. They had to apply the skills and knowledge they have gained in maths class during this term to escape from the room whilst also competing for the fastest time in the school.
The top 5 times completed were 16:25, 14:46, 14:28, 11:20 and a highly impressive 11:10, which was achieved by Ms Dempsey’s group 3.
