On the 21st of November our minor boys soccer team headed down to Greystones United to play against East Glendalough. St David's warmed up well and the game started despite the freezing cold weather.
In the opening minutes of the game Jack Corrigan scored a great goal for St David's. As the first half continued David's retained a high level of possession in their half. Then Conor Shevlin had an unlucky goal attempt, just missing the net. Another great effort from Euan Darcy saw him head the ball and it hit the post . AJ Long had a volley outside the box. David's scored another goal by Jack Corrigan just before halftime. As half time hit David's were winning the match 2-0!
At half time TY coaches Rowan Carr and Eoghan Waters gathered the minor team in to give the team a talk where they emphasised the importance of keeping up the good work.
Minutes into the second half David's gave away an unlucky penalty causing East Glendalough to score. Then Dylan Hatton-Donnegon scored a solo goal helping David's regain their possession. Instantly, Dan Keavnigh scored another great goal for David's. A vital save from Lucas Henrys helped David’s maintain their lead. Then minutes before the match ended we had two more fantastic goals from Dylan Hatton-Donnegon and Conor Byrne.
St David's had a great game winning 6-1. The boys should be so proud of their outstanding performance!
A special thanks to Mr Cahill and the TY students for coaching the minor boys team.
