Russborough House Trip

On Thursday the 20th of March, our TYs took a trip to Russborough House in Blessington for the day. It was a welcome change of pace and a well-earned reward for the hard work displayed in the musical the week before.  Leaving at 9, all students were excited to participate in activities as the weather was expected to reach highs of over 16° !

When they arrived, they were split into groups of just over 10 students and brought to their tents to leave their bags and belongings. Activities began swiftly after and students were already enjoying themselves completely.

The TYs participated in things such as zip lining, rock climbing, abseiling, canoeing, bushcraft and even making their own huts out of sticks. These were soon put to the test when an instructor threw a rather large amount of water to test the insulation, which certainly cooled most students down from the heat.

The highlight for most was roasting marshmallows on the fire they had built and lit themselves and they even got two if they were lucky. Students tested their climbing skills as they scaled a rock wall and then got the chance to abseil back down again.

Although there were a few bumps, all TY students thoroughly enjoyed the day.

We’d like to thank Russborough for having us and especially the staff for being so friendly!
