On Tuesday the 19th of November, our Senior Boys GAA team headed down to Éire Óg, Greystones to compete in a local derby against rivals Temple Carrig. With multiple members of each team knowing one another very well, the game was bound to be a cracker. St David's warmed up well and the game started despite the horrendous weather conditions.
As the opening minutes of the match passed, it became clear that this was going to be a great battle. Unluckily, St David's conceded a few early goals which knocked the wind out of their sails. However, then they started to get a hold of the game, scoring goals and points from excellent players like forward, Luke Honan.
Unfortunately as the second half went on, Temple Carrig increased their lead, making it very difficult for the David's lads to get back into the game. Temple Carrig's lead was maintained to the final whistle. The game ended in a defeat for the St David's boys after a valiant effort, with the final score being 12-6 to 1-6 in favour of Temple Carrig. Hard luck to the boys but we have no doubt that they will bounce back from this loss.
A big thanks to Mr. Hassett for coaching and accompanying the boys.
