On the 9th of January 2025 our Senior Girls Soccer team headed down to Greystones United to play in a fierce match against Lycée Francais Ireland despite the frosty and bitterly cold weather conditions.
The warmup began with the team captain, Sarah Duff, guiding the girls. The girls started jogging and stretching then practiced many goal shots against the goalie to prepare themselves.
Kick-off was at 10 o'clock sharp and as the first half started the girls were off to a great start. Within minutes of the match beginning, Laoise O'Gorman scored an excellent goal for the team to give David's the lead. The girls had most of the possession throughout the first half. Unfortunately, minutes before halftime the opposing team, Lycée Francais, scored a goal.
The score at halftime was an even 1-1. Mr O'Donnachadha gave a great pep talk and kept the spirits high for our senior girls. He gave them words of encouragement to keep going although the girls were struggling due to the tough weather conditions.
Second half started with Lena Gleeson scoring an outstanding goal! Lycée Francais retaliated and that ended up with an unlucky goal from them making the match 2-2. Our senior girls wanted to gain the win, so they put in the effort by communicating effectively with one another on the pitch. There was an abundance of support from the sideline with lots of encouraging words from Mr O’Donnachadha and the girls on the sideline. This support helped Teagan Elliot score a fantastic goal. The girls won this tough match with a score of 3-2.
A big thanks to Mr O'Donnacha who helped coach and encouraged the team to win today. And a huge well done to the senior girls for another great win!
