On Wednesday, 9 April, 19 students accompanied by Louise O’Sullivan, Deputy Principal, and Rachel Bennett, teacher, went to visit three places in the city centre. The three venues are: Tiglin lighthouse Cafe, Pearse Street, the Capuchin Day Centre, Bow Street and SVP HQ, Sean McDermott Street. The first two places provide food, clothing, medical treatment, a hot meal, a friendly face, provide direction and support towards employment or to rehabilitation for drug addiction. SVP HQ is the national administrative hub for the organisation and all calls that are made requesting help come to this hub and are disseminated to local volunteers on the ground. These organisations receive very little funding from the government and those volunteering and working in these contexts have an extraordinary commitment to those whose lives are exceedingly difficult because of their circumstances. If you can support them in any way, it would be much appreciated.
We have our Clothes Drive which is now being extended until after Easter in response to the need expressed yesterday from those three places.. Thank you to those who have already donated. We now require toiletries, hygiene products, nappies, milk formula and will be happy to accept them after the Easter break.
Thank you for your help.
