On Thursday the 27th of April, the girl's u14 gaelic football team participated in a Leinster championship blitz in Shelmalier GAA Club in Galbally Co. Wexford. The team played four matches against four different teams, with the top two teams of the day progressing onto the next round of the championship.
The girls got off to a great start, with a strong forward line scoring three goals and two points to beat Coláiste an Átha's two points.
Next up was a match against Meánscoil Gharman. A goal and two points to David's and one point to Coláiste Gharman meant that St David's were well ahead as half time approached. Two more goals and three more points in the second half meant that St David's came away with a victory of 4-4 to Coláiste Gharman's single point.
Saint David’s third match was against Coláiste Abbáin. The girls played some great football, showcasing impressive teamwork skills, and again they came away with a great win, of five points to nothing.
Saint David's final game proved to be the most challenging and they were defeated 0-0 to 1-4 by Presentation Secondary School.
The girls played fantastically and came in the top two teams of the day, which means that they have progressed onto the next round of the Leinster championship.
Standout performances go to Lena Gleeson, Hazel Prendergast and Teagan Mulally.
