On Tuesday the 26th of November the TY Green Schools Committee headed to East Glendalough to take part in the Wicklow Youth Climate Action Conference. Over 400 students and local representatives were in attendance.
The conference, which was entitled ‘Our Climate, Our Future’, was organised by a committee of Transition Year students from East Glendalough with the support of Codling Wind Park and in partnership with the Wicklow County Council.
The main objective of the conference was to provide a platform for the voices of young people in Wicklow on the climate crisis and to enable and encourage all attendees to become lifelong advocates for a better and more sustainable future.
Presentations were given from key speakers including Eimear Manning, Youth and Climate Justice Development Officer at the National Youth Council of Ireland , environmental campaigner John Gibbons and Codling Wind Park Project Director, Scott Sutherland.
The Students really enjoyed getting to talk to like minded people and gaining knowledge about all things Climate Action. It was a great day for all involved!
A big thanks to Mr Short for accompanying the Students
