On Wednesday the 19th of March, our TY St Catherine's team welcomed a small cohort of students from St Catherine's school in Newcastle. Both schools were excited to both teach and learn the game of touch rugby.
The students from St Catherines' arrived at 9:50 off the bus and into the sports hall they went. Our TYs were fondly remembered from previous visits as students from both schools greeted each other once again.
To begin, some passing drills helped everyone to warm up, and even learn how to pass correctly. It's safe to say we had some well-educated rugby players from both schools, as the passing shown was of a very high standard.
Once the warm up passing was complete, it was time for them to play a match. Although there was a bit of confusion over bibs, the teams were ready to go and show how their practice had paid off.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and the high performance meant that all students deserved a treat before they left.
We hope that all the students, both from St Catherines, and our St Davids TYs enjoyed themselves and that they learnt a bit more about touch rugby !
A big thank you to Ms Foynes and all staff that helped the students from St Catherines on their visit today. We hope there will be more to come in the near future.
